L'Epicerie at Claridge’s.

Claridge’s has been renowned for its way of offering the finer things in life (glamorous design, inspiring dining, and impeccable service) since the 1850’s – and it has recently undergone a revamp to make it even more spectacular than before. With two new Mayfair suites, an all-new culinary experience, and a new Weekend Lunch menu dedicated to timeless dishes, Claridge’s is here to stay.

Located in the heart of Mayfair, London, the hotel began to attract the attention of the royals in its early years, and by the 1920s it had become an English institution loved for its art deco style by movie stars and statesmen, fashion designers and global dignitaries. As guests step foot into the lobby today, they are transported into the same art deco fantasy as guests 170 years ago.

Accomodation

The new Mayfair suites embody all the most-loved elements of Claridge’s – the art deco design, Victorian elegance, and contemporary detailing. Each of the Mayfair suites is unique and is fitted with one-of-a-kind period features and restored furnishings from the turn of the century. They have large walk-in closets, marble bathrooms and the tech that is necessary in this day and age (but tucked away so as not to ruin the golden age aesthetic). They feature a separate sitting room with an original fireplace and are generously spacious.

Dining

L’Epicerie offers a unique dining experience that allows up to 14 guests a front-row seat to the culinary theatre that is the Claridge’s kitchen. Guests watch as their dishes are prepared and then presented on the marble pass. Each menu is a bespoke creation curated for your specific occasion – ranging from breakfasts to dinners or freshly-baked soufflés each item will be uniquely created for you. L’Epicerie will also host a series of interactive masterclasses and wine dinners designed and hosted by Claridge’s sommeliers, chefs and pâtissiers.

The Weekend Lunch menu will be available at The Foyer and Reading Room, which has been inspiring diners for generations. The Weekend Lunch menu offers a signature Claridge’s take on classics – such as Sunday’s roast beef served with airy Yorkshire puddings and crisp roast potatoes. The menu will be three courses and offers diners the opportunity to slow down and sample seasonal dishes made from ingredients harvested from land and sea – Claridge’s seafood cocktail, Cornish lobster risotto, steak tartare topped by a golden yoke, and the all-time-favorite Claridge’s chicken pie.

The ‘Basement’ remodeling

The basement has undergone what many are calling one of the most glamorous basement extensions in the world. A 20-meter swimming pool is finished with light-colored subway-style tiles and decorative glass-like ceilings that give the illusion of light filtering through into the pool area. There is also a spa and wine cellar set to be in this new 5-story basement.

Claridge’s is a timeless classic, favored for generations and here to stay for many more. With these most recent additions, long-standing guests will be able to return to a refreshed experience and new guests will experience the traditional elegance, design and service that sets Claridge’s apart as spectacular. Lily Pond Luxury clients receive breakfast, a credit and an upgrade if available – these perks also apply at their sister hotel, The Connaught.
