Sensei, a total wellness concept and brainchild of Oracle founder Larry Ellison, is set to open a second location next year in Rancho Mirage, California. The Porcupine Creek location will continue Sensei’s original vision of providing wellness retreat programs in awe-inspiring natural settings – the Sensei Way, creating three simple paths - “Move, Nourish and Rest” – that can be applied to include preventative health practices in everyday life. The first location is located on Lānaʻi (Hawaii) and operates as a Four Seasons hotel, one of two on the island.

Sensei Porcupine Creek will take a 230-acre private estate and transform it into an ultra-lux boutique resort with a central focus on spa therapies, nutrition, and movement programs as well as golf, tennis, swimming, and yoga.

The Setting

The backdrop of the estate is the beautiful and expansive Santa Rosa Mountain range. The retreat is a desert oasis amidst the mountain range, which is a part of a nationally protected monument in the Coachella Valley. With a procession of palms, immaculately kept fairways and lush gardens, guests will want to explore from the moment they step onto the property. The hues of the sunset wash over the mountains and add color to the surrounding natural environment in the evenings.

The Villas

There will be a small number of rooms in the former estate house and private villas scattered around the property, with 22 total accommodations. Villas promise to be open concept with high ceilings, natural woods, and enormous windows, and a combination of “garden suites” as well as main house rooms, all with details including teak furnishings and limestone and bronze fixtures.

The Food

The culinary program is specially curated by Nobu Matsuhisa, the chef-mastermind behind the famed Nobu brand. As such, it promises to cater to specific diets, as well as a whole foods, organic and locally-sourced set of ingredients where possible.

The Amenities

The restaurant, as well as all the resort’s amenities, will only be available to overnight guests. Most stays will probably range from three to five days, during which guests can choose to either disconnect completely from technology and immerse themselves in the environment, or to use technology to measure their physical success.

Guests can select unique packages curated for their needs and desires for their stay. Whether you would like a structured wellness program tailored to your personal health data, a flexible stay with curated wellbeing activities and non-activities, or other personalized in between options – we can help you create the retreat perfect for you. There are also nearby activities for guests who wish to venture out of the Sensei bubble.

Want to be the first to book Sensei Porcupine Creek? Let us know and we’ll send you early access to reservations when they open up later this year.
